Existing mold or private mold? Start with your brief.
Clarify what needs to be distinctive, what can stay familiar and which development questions to ask first.

Identify what needs to change
Separate your requirements into appearance, dimensions, components and function. This helps explain whether you are looking for a new visual identity or a different packaging structure.
Ask which requirements can be addressed using an existing design and which would require further development.
Discuss the development scope
For an existing model, review the available color, decoration and component options. For a private-mold concept, clarify the proposed design work, tooling responsibilities and sample stages.
Discuss ownership, revision allowances and approval milestones in writing. Confirm the scope for your particular project rather than assuming that every development follows the same terms.
Compare the complete project
Review the proposed development steps, quotation, quantity requirements and schedule together. Identify what remains subject to sample testing or design approval.
Choose the route that fits the specific requirements of your collection and the resources available for development.
Bring your packaging brief into focus.
